The Majority View

  • July 4, 2018

Most people in the United States seem to have views that derive from honesty, compassion, and a desire for fairness in human life. A minority has for many years jiggered and fiddled with the electoral system that establishes who holds state and federal public offices. This jiggering and fiddling have had the result that two of the last three presidents lost the popular vote but gained the office. As well, the minority political party holds the Senate. One result is that the minority party also controls the third branch of government, the Supreme Court. If the majority is ever to decide...

The wrong track economy

  • July 4, 2018

Most Americans think the system is unfair This is data from 2012, and the American political matrix has changed a lot, but this is what we, as a majority, were thinking before the current era. Two-thirds of us thought the US economy was on the wrong track. Half of us thought the economic system is unfair to middle- and working-class people. In 2015, we thought the economic system favors powerful interests.

It's very difficult not to think of her as Eva Peron from the Bronx. Ready to storm the country. High flying, adored, what happens now, where do you go from here? For someone on top of the world, the view is not exactly clear.

How to improve neighborhoods

  • June 15, 2018

Something new Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said recently that “we must push ourselves into unfamiliar territory” when we talk about transportation. “We need to be thinking not just about moving cars, but about connecting people to economic opportunity, creating great walkable places that people enjoy, attracting the next innovative workforce, and even reducing flood risks in our city.” The Mayor talks about supporting well-connected transit-oriented development in the multiple urban centers in our region and proposes that we improve them all. He calls those centers Complete...

Governing thoughts of the Gita

  • June 12, 2018

Focus on selfless duty The central concept of a Universe exploding from God consciousness is the willingness to embrace this presence and turn all of one's attention to realizing the manifestation of God's process. The implication is that one has no time for pleasure or desire. "The ignorant work for their own profit; the wise work for the welfare of the world, without thought for themselves." "To live without the daily sacrifice of selfless service – to work just for oneself, or worse, to do nothing at all – is simply to be a thief." -The Bhagavad Gita NEXT

more from Lord Krishna

  • May 17, 2018

who are these creatures? Krishna says "These creatures...move in me as the winds move in every direction in space." These creatures are our individual essences. Which Lord Krishna - who is, after all, God manifest - calls the Self. He says, Those who know me as their own divine Self break through the belief that they are the body and are not reborn as separate creatures. Such a one is united with me. Delivered from selfish attachment, fear, and anger, filled with me, surrendering themselves to me, purified in the fire of my being, many have reached the state of unity in me. As...

in the Bhagavad Gita

Lord Krishna, a manifestation of God, explains I pervade the entire universe in my unmanifested form. All creatures find their existence in me, but I am not limited by them. Behold my divine mystery! These creatures do not really dwell in me, and though I bring them forth and support them, I am not confined within them. They move in me as the winds move in every direction in space. At the end of the eon these creatures return to unmanifested matter; at the beginning of the next cycle I send them forth again.   . NEXT

the Perennial Philosophy

  • May 17, 2018

There is a deep cultural framework for this idea of ubiquitous God consciousness. Aldous Huxley described the Perennial Philosophy that appears in every age and civilization: (1) there is an infinite, changeless reality beneath the world of change; (2) this same reality lies at the core of every human personality; (3) the purpose of life is to discover this reality experientially: that is, to realize God while here on earth.* If it is given that God consciousness is everywhere including entirely within and around each of us, then each of us is in complete and perfect contact...

If consciousness is God

  • May 17, 2018

if consciousness is God Previously, I have described a physical construct for the Universe that includes the seamless web of energy and information that flows absolutely everywhere, always. Scientists are agreed that there is something seamless there and through that seamlessness everything is in fact connected, everywhere, always. Some philosophers and some scientists and some other kinds of humans are making increasing peace with the concept of a pervasive field of consciousness occupying this space at all times, everywhere. Some propose that consciousness could be God, in the form...
